Interview Questions
- AI is rapidly becoming a keystone in many developers’ toolkits, even though it’s so new that it’s still being pioneered and figured out.
- Question: What are your general thoughts on AI in the context of coding & developers? Is it a good or bad thing?
- Question: Do you think developers should learn to use AI tools early in their career, or only after they’ve learned how to code without AI intervention?
- Just like any new technology, AI has caught a fair amount of controversy when it comes to things like copyright, art creation, and more. In the context of learning how to code I’ve personally heard concerns about the quality of the code being generated for junior developers that won’t know how to fix it, developers relying on AI too much, and of course the worry that developers will simply be replaced.
- Question: There is concern that those that learn how to code alongside AI will have a disadvantage because they’ve learned to rely on such a powerful tool right out of the gate. Scrimba, on the other hand, has seemingly embraced AI through a feature called “Instant Feedback”. Can you tell me what “Instant Feedback” is and how it benefits students?
- There’s a lot of opinions out there on what an aspiring developer should learn first - Frontend or backend? React or Svelte? Or one I personally hear a lot is “just code” and the experience will help you learn.
- Question: What is your opinion on this matter? Do you think that all students should start somewhere specific (ie frontend), or is it not a one-size-fits-all scenario?
- Question: I read in the Scrimba roadmap that there are some fullstack courses coming that will teach Node, Next.js, and SQL. Why the expansion into teaching backend tech? Any unique challenges with the creation of backend versus frontend courses?
- You’ve seen tons of developers break into the tech industry and get their first jobs.
- Question: What are your top tips for aspiring devs to get their foot in the door?
- Question: We’ve entered a sort of “doom and gloom” era when it comes to getting a job in the developer market. I believe this is because we were at such an industry height during the pandemic. Do you have any words of advice or encouragement for anyone struggling to get a job in today’s job market? For anyone on the fence if they should learn web development?
